Aphorism Never seem more learned than the people you are with. Wear your learning like a pocket watch and keep it hidden. Do not pull it out to count the hours, but give the time when you are asked.

Nek Chernogora is a main point of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Here it is possible to meet alluvial of stones and pathless thickets of Alpine pine as it was in Gorgany; boundless meadows (such called "polonyna") and lakes of an glacial origin like in Svydovets region; rich fur-tree woods and blossoming honey glades as in Beskidy.

Chernogora is a highest mountainous area of Eastern Carpathians. All Ukrainian mountains, which are over 2000m are located just here. Separating Gorgany and Marmaroshsky Carpathians Chernogora streches for a distance of 60 kms. from Yablonicky nek to mount Pop Ivan (means a mount of a priest Ivan) .

Northern part of Chernogora (about 30 kms.) extents along polonyna of Kookol' nek, covered by dense forests mountain Kozmes'ka (1572m) and after deep pass suddenly rises to the highest top of Ukraine mountain Goverla (2061m). One of the basic Chernogora's ridges turns southeastwards from Goverla to splendid mount of Pop Ivan and inclusive of mountain Petros another one streches westward.

Chernogora also includes ridge Kostrich (the highest top Kostricya-1586m), from which you can see the majestic panorama of all main mountain-mass from Goverla to Pop Ivan.
